So, I was surfing the net looking for info on Web 2.0 in order to gain a better understanding of the concept and I stumbled across this website: http://www.go2web20.net/. After browsing it a bit, I took a closer look at one of the tools, Butns (http://www.butns.com/).
Butns is a tool that allows you to add more destinations to a hyperlink in a blog or website. So, instead of only being able to link to a definition of a word, by using buttons, you can select several sites (Google, Flickr, YouTube, Wikipedia, etc.) allowing the reader to then choose which site to visit for more information. This not only helps user to provide more information to the readers, but also allows the readers to select the medium that best suits their needs and preferences. Some learners may prefer to read (Wikipedia) or watch a video (YouTube) where others may rather listen to a podcast.
Another thought - this may also expose more readers to more resources, giving them a richer learning experience. Additionally, it provides a means for triangulating information, which helps to better support a point.
Overall, I thought this tool was pretty useful. Now back to browsing go2web20.net!
Jen - I'll have to check this out as it seems to expand the power of a hyperlink. Thanks for sharing. How are things going for you in the course? It seems daunting at times, especially with a compressed time line. Kem
ReplyDeleteYes - definitely overwhelming, especially when this is my last course before graduating and I'm completely burnt out! I'm just taking it one week at a time. How are you holding up? Like the course? Think you'll use any of this at work?
